One weekend at one arena. Mini Royale runs both days. Battle Royale competes on the Sunday.

The November 2026 event is cancelled

The first event now takes place May 22 and 23, 2027 in Gatineau, QC. The Battle Royale League is designed to add to and complement the existing season, so gymnasts and coaches can add it to the schedule they already have. For this reason, and after a lot of feedback, we decided that May is the best date for the first event.

Who can enter: Open invitational bringing together club, university, regional, and independent teams. No federation or national-team membership required. International teams welcome.

The main show

Two and a half hours on the Sunday evening. The Battle Royale semi-final, halftime, and the final, back to back. This is when the arena fills and the champion is decided.

Everyone is out the door by 20:00.

Late pricing starts three weeks before registration closes. Refunds close one week after registration closes. Registration also closes early once the team spots fill.

Per person, in Canadian dollars. The late fee is added for every entrant registered on or after the late pricing date.

Select Battle Royale from the event list
Choose your team name (this is the club name field on the platform)
Enter gymnast and coach details
Upload music files for floor routines
Pay registration fees by card or e-transfer
Receive confirmation email with next steps

Team name: On the platform, a club name is the team name.
Payment: Credit or debit card on the platform.E-transfer, with the team name in the memo, to payments@gymart.org
Refund policy: Full refund available until one week after registration closes. No refunds after that date.
Floor music: Music must be uploaded at least two weeks before the event.
Waivers: Waiver and consent forms are provided during registration on Gym Art Meets.

Eligibility

→ Level 10 Women and Senior Men FIG
→ Minimum 4 gymnasts per team, no maximum
→ Minimum age: 16 years old by December 31 of the competition year
→ Any gender combination permitted
→ Maximum 2 national-team members per country, and no more than 3 per team in total

Battle Royale rounds

Highest total score wins

Vault: Female and male vaults both count toward the vault routine limit.
Apparel: Team must match. Compression required. Baggy clothing draws a Code of Points deduction. Applies to both Battle Royale and Mini Royale.

Scoring & ranking

Your team gets the same number of points as the percentile of your rank on the apparatus. First on an event scores 100, last scores 0. Beat 80% of the other athletes and you bank 80 points for your team. Team points reset every round.

100 pts: 1st on the event
50 pts: Middle of the field
0 pts: Last on the event
Judging: Two panels per apparatus. One judge evaluates difficulty and one evaluates execution. Battle Royale women are judged at Level 10 under USAG rules, Battle Royale men at Senior FIG rules, and Mini Royale at Xcel Platinum under the USAG Xcel Code of Points.

Ties

→ Tied gymnasts share the places they would have occupied and each takes the average
→ Total summed execution breaks a team tie
→ Total summed difficulty breaks next
→ Highest routine is dropped and teams are compared again
→ If no step breaks the tie, teams split the prize

The tie-break steps are a deciding round, never a sudden-death format.

Merchandise: Merchandise for the top 12 teams in each competition.
Crowd favourite: Crowd favourite award chosen by team vote.
Payment: Prize money is awarded to the team, not individual gymnasts. Each team names a captain who supplies one payment address. The team decides the split. Paid within 30 days.

Nights: A team competing both days usually stays three nights: Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Travel & Logistics

Getting there: The venue is accessible by car and public transit. Parking is available on site. International teams should plan for at least one day of buffer time before the event.
Visas: International athletes must check visa requirements for entry into Canada. Allow at least 8 weeks for processing.
Insurance: Canadian athletes are covered by event insurance, including injury.International athletes must carry travel insurance that covers sports incidents. A plain travel policy usually excludes sports incidents. Confirm your coverage before booking.

Staff & Certification

Coaches: Floor access requires NCCP Level 2 or equivalent, and Safe Sport certification in the applicable discipline.
Judges: National or Brevet status required, and Safe Sport course completion.
Volunteers: Vulnerable sector check required for all volunteers and staff with athlete contact.
